Celebrating Brisbane's Creative Culture

Bravo Brisbane is an arts and culture platform dedicated to the creative work happening across Brisbane and its surrounding communities. Through reviews, interviews, news and social media coverage, we provide a place for local creativity to be seen, discussed and celebrated.

Our Story

Bravo Brisbane was founded in 2020 by creative director Anina-Marie. Since then, the platform has grown to cover a broad range of artistic activity in and around Brisbane, from established productions and cultural events to independent projects and work presented in public spaces.

The platform was created to recognise the people, ideas and organisations contributing to Brisbane's cultural life. Its focus extends across theatre, music, street art and other creative fields, reflecting the variety of work being produced throughout the region.

As Brisbane's arts community continues to develop, Bravo Brisbane aims to document that activity in a clear and accessible way. Our coverage connects audiences with creative work while giving artists and arts organisations another platform through which their projects can be discovered.

What We Cover

Our team of writers creates editorial and social content about the arts. Coverage is shaped by the creative activity taking place across Brisbane rather than being limited to a single discipline, venue type or scale of production.

Reviews consider performances, exhibitions and other creative experiences. Interviews provide space for artists and creative professionals to discuss their work, ideas and processes. News articles share relevant developments from the local arts community, while social media content helps bring timely attention to events and projects.

Together, these formats create a varied record of Brisbane's cultural landscape and offer readers multiple ways to engage with it.

  • Reviews of creative productions, events and experiences
  • Interviews with artists and people working in the arts
  • News from Brisbane's creative community
  • Coverage of theatre, music, street art and related fields
  • Social media content highlighting local creative activity

Why Local Arts Coverage Matters

A thriving creative community depends on artists making work, organisations creating opportunities and audiences choosing to take part. Local arts coverage helps bring these groups together by making creative activity easier to find and understand.

Bravo Brisbane is passionate about supporting the arts to thrive in Brisbane. We do this by paying attention to the breadth of the local sector and sharing stories that contribute to its visibility. Our subject matter may range from a theatre production or musical performance to a public artwork or wider creative development.

This local focus allows the platform to reflect Brisbane's distinct creative identity. It also recognises that cultural activity takes place in many settings, including traditional arts venues, independent spaces and the streets and neighbourhoods of the city.

Part of Bravo Australia

Bravo Brisbane forms part of the Bravo Australia group. It has a sister platform on the Gold Coast, extending the group's commitment to covering creativity in different Australian communities.

Opportunities are available for the Bravo model to expand into other towns and cities. The purpose of this growth is to celebrate creative work across Australia while retaining a meaningful connection to each local area. Every community has its own artists, audiences, venues and cultural stories, and locally focused platforms can give that activity appropriate attention.

Through Bravo Brisbane and its related platforms, Bravo Australia seeks to encourage wider recognition of the arts and the people who contribute to them.

Connecting With Bravo Brisbane

Bravo Brisbane is intended for audiences interested in local arts and culture, as well as artists, creative practitioners and organisations contributing to the sector. Readers can use the platform to discover creative work, learn more about the people behind it and keep up with cultural activity across the region.

Artists and arts organisations may also find opportunities to bring relevant projects, events and developments to the platform's attention. Coverage decisions remain connected to Bravo Brisbane's editorial focus on creativity in Brisbane and surrounding areas.

Whether the subject is a live performance, visual work, musical project, public artwork or another form of creative expression, Bravo Brisbane remains focused on recognising the ideas and effort that shape the city's cultural life.
