“It’s the final countdown” to get your tickets to see Beenleigh Theatre Group’s production of Rock of Ages. The show takes the audience down memory lane with all the hit songs from the 80’s featuring amazing singers and a rockin’ band. Ad Astra’s production of Death and the Maiden is a gripping, terrifying experience that has the audience on the edge of their seats. This production deals with some extremely sensitive and highly traumatizing material in a way that is respectful and authentic.

“You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life” is most certainly the experience art Queensland Musical Theatre’s production of Mamma Mia! Opening night had the audience dancing in their seats from the beginning of the Overture to the end of the final Megamix number. Performed at the charming Twelfth Night Theatre, with an energetic cast and groovy tunes, this is a night out that won’t be forgotten any time soon
Portraits is a horrifying tale that perfectly encapsulates some very big questions around legacy and how much loyalty we owe to the ideals and values of our parents after they die. It is not exactly enjoyable to watch because it is so cynical, but it somehow feels necessary currently to ask these questions. Driscoll’s play explores legacy and tradition and begs the question: can we ever really break free from our legacy or are we merely products of our inheritance? Observatory Theatre’s production of Portraits moves the audience from their comfortable existence into the world of the Godbold mansion to face not only the ghosts of this family but also those of their own. Bravo!
Local, up-and-coming abstract painter and photographer, Jui The Artist, will be displaying her collection of works at the Red Bowler Coffee Lounge and Wine Bar on Sunday, 3 October 2021. ‘The Wave’ will feature roughly 44 pieces of abstract art and photography from Jui The Artist. Jui has been creating abstract art for the last ten years. Jui says that the discovery of abstract art was incredibly empowering and freeing and did wonders for her mental health. This art form fascinated Jui as for the first time she was free to embrace imperfection and mistakes through art. Jui hopes that her work would inspire and encourage others to explore abstract art and to experience the freedom to create anything with passion without the fear of mistakes or the limitations of traditional art.
