Beenleigh Theatre’s production of Freaky Friday is playing at Crete Street Theatre. Presented with minimal set pieces, a projected backdrop, and a rotating centrepiece to signify changes between home and school, this piece relies heavily on the gumption and chutzpah of the cast. And boy do they deliver in spades! The show’s important message of humility, cooperation, and love for family both blood and chosen and the wonderful cast makes this production a must see.
The hills are indeed alive with music! Queensland Musical Theatre’s (QMT) production of the iconic musical The Sound of Music opened at Twelfth Night Theatre last weekend. And boy, what a marvellous production! This show is a beautiful example of the power of community theatre. The music is absolutely stunning, the performers are dedicated, talented and passionate and the result is a production that leaves the audience singing tunes from the show over and over well after the night has finished. Bravo!
Millennial Productions’ debut is fabulous, featuring an extraordinary cast with tremendous talent; dancing, singing and acting through some very tough themes with poise and passion. Bravo Brisbane cannot wait to see what Millennial Productions does next!
Potted Potter took Caloundra by storm this week with their antics of a certain boy wizard in a condensed, cursory, captivating production that left many in stitches; of a laughter variety, certainly. This show is an amazingly fun romp for all ages, from six to Dumbledore – who is very old indeed. Potted Potter will leave you in a whirlwind of laughter, whether you know everything or nothing about Harry Potter. Although the execution may leave you questioning whether you really knew anything at all quite so hilarious.
